I’m always intrigued by the signs left behind by the smallest excavators and laborers. This is a lovely pairing of words and image, thanks for sharing and playing along today!

Thank you! Thank you for hosting!

That’s the perfect poem for the photo. My first reaction was “They sure do!” I’m behind in the Sealey Challenge, but will continue my reading into September to catch up. I’m going to look for “In Praise of Limes.” Thank you!
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
I think reading poetry–even if it goes into September–is perfect! No need to be on a timeline.

You are a pro at the video-making, Marcie! Hope your foot/ankle are healing and you’ll be tunneling your own roadways soon!
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
It’s definitely better. Still sore after being on my feet all day, but it’s way better than last weekend!

Yes, the image really does look like a map. Perfect haiku to describe it!
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
Thank you!

Lovely photo and haiku, Marcie! You find the most amazing bits of nature to explore.
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
It’s fun exploring with just me and my little iphone. 🙂

Marcie, I have never seen a leaf look like the one you shared. The photo is dynamic and so appealing to the senses. Your haiku is a treasure and so are the poetry cards you make and the videos. I am thrilled that you had time to send me a package. It is a generous gift of poetic goodness.

So glad you got the postcards! 🙂

Marcie, that photo is incredible and your haiku matches it perfectly! I admire your dedication to the Sealey challenge. Reading a book of poetry a day while crossing things off my summer to-do list and getting my settled in my new room at school was more than I could manage!

Yes, it’s a very, very tough time of year for teachers to take on a challenge. I fell and sprained my ankle and injured my foot and that has forced me to ice and then take an epsom salts bath every evening. That has been about the right amount of time to read a book of poetry when I combine the two.

So good! Loving, “leaf miners.”
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
They are fascinating. I heard about them here. https://podcast.naturesarchive.com/2020/12/28/eiseman/ And I bought the guy’s book about insect tracks.

Another perfect pairing of photo and haiku. I’m SO looking forward to a collection of these between covers!!
Thank you for shedding a positive light on leaf miners. Could you please take on milkweed beetles next? I need a way to appreciate them rather than simply working to eradicate them! 🙂
Marcie Flinchum Atkins
Thank you for your kind words about my photo + haiku!
And putting milkweed beetles on my list! 🙂

Perfect description of what those little guys do!
