Poetry Friday: What is a Friend? Poetry Anthology
Today’s Poetry Friday roundup host is Matt at Radio, Rhythm, & Rhyme. Hop on over there to see all of the Poetry Friday posts.
What is a Friend Poetry Anthology
I’m so thrilled to have a poem in WHAT IS A FRIEND an anthology edited by Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong. All proceeds from this book go to IBBY Children in Crisis Fund. I also had a poem in THINGS WE FEEL that came out in the summer. It has been such a great experience to learn from them.
My list poem “Promise” is in this book!
If you’d like to hear me reading the poem, watch the video below.
Signed Bookplates
If you buy a copy of WHAT IS A FRIEND, I will mail you a bookplate sticker that you can put right on the “Promise” page. Fill out this form for a bookplate (and I’m even offering some poetry postcards via snail mail, if you wish).

Marcie, I like the use of the word starburst as a verb. Congratulations on your delightful poem with the surprise ending-another clever use of language and rhyme.

Congratulations, Marcie! “Promise” is such a fun poem that brings back memories of sunny summer days. And I agree with Carol about using “starburst” as a verb. So clever!

Congratulations! Your poem speaks to my swimmer’s heart (even though I’ve never been an ocean girl).

Thank you, Mary Lee. One day I’d love to put a book like that together. If only the photos were print-quality (I have to do some investigating on that).
